The second Bansko Nomad Fest Online Unconference takes place on Zoom. The programme is set by the people who take part: the first sessions are confirmed, and you can see all topics and hosts in the BNF app.
The first edition on 11 October covered AI-powered motion graphics, volunteering while travelling, business finances and setting up a nomad home base. Those sessions are now on the BNF YouTube channel.
Bulgaria for Nomads: Residency, Taxes & Company Setup — What's Real?

You'll find out which setup fits your income, what it really costs per year, and which steps to take first. This applies whether you freelance, run a company or are still deciding where to base yourself.
The session compares real numbers for the main routes:
- Freelancer (self-employed): the 25% standard expense deduction brings income tax to around 7.5%, with social security on top. When this route works best, and the income level at which a company starts to pull ahead.
- Company: 10% corporate tax plus 5% on dividends, alongside accounting costs, director remuneration and dividend rules.
- Residency: the 183-day rule, the digital nomad permit, and how your home country views your move.
It also covers social contributions, residency versus tax residency, and the day-to-day admin. After a 15-minute overview the floor is open. Bring your questions, your numbers and your experiences with banks, accountants and the authorities. "What I'd do differently" stories are especially welcome.
